A Life Restored

Joe’s Path To Recovery

Joe

“Without challenge, there is no change.”

These powerful words from Pastor Bradley have become a guiding light in Joseph Napoli’s journey.

Joseph, the youngest of six children, grew up in a loving family deeply rooted in their faith. His father was a Korean War vet, and his mother was a dedicated stay-at-home mom. Joseph grew up Baptist, but began to struggle with his faith as he entered his teen years. At 12, he was introduced to marijuana and alcohol by a friend — the start of a long, dark journey into substance abuse.

Joseph’s addiction escalated in junior high, when he started smoking pot daily. By high school, he had experimented with crack cocaine, heroin, and meth. Despite his growing dependency, Joseph got married after high school. But as his substance abuse disorder worsened, his marriage fell apart.

The loving son, brother and husband he had been became lost as Joseph spiraled out of control, culminating in a period of homelessness in Kensington.

Joe

Overwhelmed by desperation, Joseph hit rock bottom.

That’s when God intervened. A pivotal encounter occurred between Joseph and a young boy who prayed for him and introduced him to Teen Challenge. Deciding to enter our life-changing program marked a turning point in Joseph’s life.

Initially planning to complete only the 30-day program, Joseph was inspired by a chapel service where a guest speaker said, “God chased you here, now you have to chase him.” That night, Joseph gave his life to Christ.

As he saw the continuous prayer poured into all the students at Teen Challenge, he knew that the long-term discipleship program was where God wanted him to be.

Graduating in 2020, Joseph experienced the most transformative year of his life as he embraced every opportunity to give back through ministries, street teams, and community outreach.

Over the past few years, Joseph has honed valuable leadership skills and deepened his faith. He is grateful for friends like you who enable the life-changing programs here at Teen Challenge and is thankful to God for restoring his life. Thank you for making stories like Joseph’s possible.
